A Pretty Start

This is just a quick post to keep my blog flowing, I guess . . .

Anyway, the other day, aka yesterday, I was looking at some of my old piano videos on youtube and well, while they are all nostalgic, one of them, in particular, really resonated with me. It's a song I composed; and well, while it's not the greatest of songs, it's my own composition and if I'm not going to be proud of it, no one else will because frankly it's just not good; it's just a simple chord progression and a simple melody, that's it. But I'm still proud!

The song pretty much describes how I was precollege. And, while I'm still kind of lost, I've come a long way, and I guess what I'm trying to say is that I now have a direction.

Note: I'm an unskilled composer and lyricist, so the words of the lyrics are like a syllable-ish per a melody-note (is this accurate music terminology? *shrug*) Um, oh yeah, the verse doesn't start immediately, there's sort of an instrumental prelude. I probably should just sing this instead of describing this but I have an awful voice, so that's definitely not going to happen. This is, um, more of a "this is who I am" song than a billboard number one hit. So I hope you enjoy it  . . .

Title: A Pretty Start

Rough Lyrics:

I'm living my life,
I don't know what to do,
Trying to fit in, I guess.

I'm undecided,
And it's okay, why?
Cause I'm in control.

A pretty start,
I want it now,
Please dear, give me my start.

A pretty start,
It starts right now,
I know, I will be someone!

LoopHOLE!

I am like Winston Smith of 1984! I have rewritten history.

Okay, not really. But I have just messed with time! Basically, this post was conceived on Monday, May 30th, 2011. But by scheduling this post to post on April 22, 2011, I have posted in the past. Yay for loopholes! (But don't worry, I will not make a habit of posting in the past.)

The best part about this post is that now, for the first five months in 2011, I have posted five times! This makes me extremely happy because five is my favorite number and I feel at five-quility. I like to have five of everything.

Five is my favorite number for multiple reasons. First, my name has five letters. The letter E is the fifth letter in the alphabet. I was born on the fifth month, May. My family consists of five members. And, I like the number. So yay for five!

But starting with June, I will be posting more than five times. I have actually written a post today, May 30th, but I'm going to hold up on posting it until June to keep the five-quility. This is great, posting in the past! =]

I Have A Blog?

Hi, I'm emily.

I thought I just introduce myself, since well, I haven't blogged in a while and you know, you might have forgotten. I surely don't act like I remember I have a blog (Actually, I check my dashboard constantly. So the secret is I do remember I have a blog!). I mean, when's the last time I posted? April 11th. That was ten days ago and before that, April 6th. So, two post in fifteen days. At this rate, I'll post only four posts for this month which is an all time low for posts per a month since I've started this blog  Now, the more important question: when's the last time I posted something interesting to you and non-filler? Trick Question! There's no one answer. It's up to you to decided which of my posts, if any, are interesting and non-filler to you. But I do hope there is at least one soul on the interweb who finds my posts interesting . . . *Fingers-crossed*

Okay . . . so it's not that I don't want to blog, but once tiredness and busyness got me off schedule, it became difficult to get back into the groove of blogging semi-regularly. And also, I will not lie, I am busy with school work, life, and procrastination.

This brings me to my next point. I'm tired of lying. If you look at the previous post, you will see that I said I would do things: post or update posts, which I didn't do. See, I lied. And if you read back, you will see that I've been prone to lying. This bothers me, because if I lie on a constant basis then I will need to use the word "honestly". And, I don't like using that word. It makes me feel like everything else I've said has been untruthful and that I'm only being truthful when I say "honestly," which is not the case. So, I will try my best to tone down the lying. No guarantees, because I don't wanna lie.

I would like to end this post with a brief update on my classes – Yes, that long overdue one I keep talking about. If I don't do it now, it'll be to late; there's only two weeks of classes left. Multivariate Calculus: I'm failing. It's completely my fault. I'm sad. And I will work for a miracle on the final. Physics: I'm not concerned grade-wise, but I feel like I'm not understanding the material completely. A little more effort and all will be well in Physics, I think. MATLAB: this is the only class I can confidently say I am doing well in, both in understanding and grades. And MATLAB, itself, is pretty snazzy and powerful. Writing: I love the class! Great professor and topic: Fantasy at the Fin-de-Siècle! My writing has improved but it's still not at the level I want it to be. Hopefully, writing the last essay will bring me close – my topic is Count Dracula vs. Lord Voldemort! =]

Wow! I just checked the date of the post I started but did not finish about my classes. The date was February 22nd, 2011. VERY OVERDUE INDEED! I wrote in the draft: " I've heard we can graph pixels in MATLAB. We'll see if I still like it by Spring." It's spring, and well, I still like MATLAB! Graphing pixels is actually very CooL!

And this concludes this mega update post.

As You Can See, I lied.

I have hidden myself in the Department of Earth Sciences corridor in CAS (College of Arts and Science) to read Dracula. I am quite alone. I was at fist at BU beach but it has since gotten dark and windy. Now I'm being lonesome and writing a blog post before heading out to get froyo with friends. I am terribly behind in Dracula. =[ But now that midterms, paper, and project are over, I will be able to finally catch up. I feel horribly guilty for blowing off writing assignments; but, I have chosen, my other classes take precedent. There's a long overdue post that I started writing pre-springbreak that I haven't finished writing or posted about my current classes. But tonight will be the night it is posted. Well, I have more to say but I'll update this post when I get back: don't want to keep my friends waiting.

I edited the post title April 21st, 2011. The actually post, aside form this line, remains the same.

A Very Good Friend

If you add a letter and subtract a different letter from this light fixture store name at Coolidge Corner, you get the name of one my very good friends. And yes, she is quite bright! =] (Also, I do know that I haven't posted since March and this short blog post in honor of my friend does not suffice and my friend also deserves so many more good words, but I am extremely busy. Sorry!)
